Programmable lighting enables 3D/4D data capture to support a wide range of workflows from meshed modelling to radiance field methods such as Gaussian Splatts.

Fast, Reliable Capture

Esper systems are designed to capture high-quality data quickly, reducing time in the rig for performers, athletes, models, actors or research subjects. Synchronised triggering and controlled lighting sequences allow multiple cameras and lighting stages to be captured reliably, whether the system is designed for static scans, expression and pose sets, or moving performance.

Polarised Lighting and Photometric Capture

Esper full body systems can be configured with controlled polarised lighting for advanced texture and surface capture.

Cross-polarised and parallel-polarised lighting stages can be used to separate diffuse colour from specular response, reduce baked-in reflections and capture more useful material information from skin, clothing, objects or other surfaces.

For applications that require additional surface understanding, systems can also be designed to capture photometric lighting stages. This allows teams to extract richer information about shape, texture and reflectance, supporting more advanced digital human, research, inspection and image processing workflows.

Stills, Video and Rolling Shutter Capture

Esper systems can be built around stills cameras, video cameras, machine vision cameras or hybrid capture requirements.

Stills-based systems are ideal for high-resolution static body scans, pose capture and texture acquisition. Video-based systems can support motion, performance and 4D workflows where temporal consistency and frame synchronisation are critical.

We can also design systems using rolling shutter video cameras where appropriate, with triggering and lighting strategies developed around the behaviour of the camera system. This allows clients to balance image quality, capture speed, system complexity and budget against the needs of the final data.

The resulting assets allow for photorealistic re-lighting and novel view synthesis, making them ideal for virtual production, AI training, and advanced simulation. Move beyond simple textured meshes and start creating assets that respond to light as they would in the real world.
